How do I get to Savaii?
If you are coming from Apia or the Faleolo Airport, you need to catch a bus or a taxi to the Mulifanua wharf. Most hotels do transfers too. Tickets can be bought at shipping house in Apia or at the ferry terminal which accept cash only. You can take a car across on the ferry too. Taxis are available 24/7 on the island, we can give you contact details for local taxi stands. Busses run from early morning till when the last ferry arrives around 5:30pm. There are a few place on the island that do car rentals if you want to book for a car. Yes, but only in Hotels and Resorts swimming pools but everything else is restricted because its part of Sāmoa's culture that everyone must attend church on Sundays. That's why almost everything is closed on Sundays here in Savai'i.
What is the driving speed limit and which side do we drive on?
The driving speed limit is generally 35 mph (56 km/h) with slower speed restrictions in villages. Traffic generally moves at a slow speed according to island time. All vehicles drive on the left-hand side of the road.
Are there any ATMs and banks around Savaii?
Yes there ATMs and banks around Savaii, mostly in Salelologa. There is an ATM in Fagamalo too. But its best to. get cash out in Salelologa before you venture around the island.
